Mission Statement:

To identify and quantify problems in the display industry, to address needs and to disseminate information on standards and procedures in optical measurements and characterizations of electronic displays.

Purpose:

The flat-panel-display (FPD) industry is blooming rapidly. Not only is there competition with the cathode ray tube (CRT) devices, but there is competition with the different FPD technologies. Manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and users of displays all need a solid basis of metrology upon which they can build and evaluate their products. A common and precise language is required for communication of specifications and compliance with those specifications. The CR-5 Electronic Displays Committee was created to support an effort to provide the requisite metrology to level the playing field. The CORM is ideally suited to provide a resource of optical metrologist to benefit the display industry.
